Newsletter - 2nd half Autumn Term

03 November 2016

Dear Parents,

Welcome back for the 2nd half of the Autumn term, we hope you all had a lovely half-term break! We would like to offer a very warm welcome to William Paddock who has just joined us.

Sadly, Ali will be leaving us at the end of term. We will miss her being on the team, but would like to wish her well in the future. If Ali is your child's key person, we will speak to you individually about who your new key person will be in due course.

For your information, Becky will be on holiday between 23rd November and 9th December, and during this time, Tara will be helping out at our busier sessions. Please speak to Becky if you have any queries or concerns.

The children seem to be getting used to our new registration board, but please could you continue to encourage your child to register themselves by finding their picture and placing it on the board when they arrive – thank you!

We have been reviewing our safeguarding policy, particularly around the use of mobile phones, and would politely request that phones are not used within the setting (main hall, jubilee room). We realise that you need to have your phones with you, but if you could only take calls in the entrance hall, and leave phones in your bag or pocket when entering the setting, this will help us to maintain the children's safety – thank you for you co-operation.

Snack time – please bring a portion of fruit or vegetable snack and place it in the bowl provided by the signing in book for every morning session your child attends. We will prepare everything provided, and it is then shared between all the children, giving them a choice of food and a chance to try new things. They will also be offered a choice of milk or water to drink with their snack. We sometimes supply breadsticks or crackers to eat alongside the fruit. If your child attends afternoon sessions, we will provide a drink and biscuit or cracker during the afternoon. If you have any queries or special dietary requirements, please speak to a member of staff.

With the weather turning colder and wetter, please could we ask that your child has appropriate clothing at pre-school for playing outside and walking to school, such as wellies, warm waterproof coat and gloves/hats/scarves if it gets colder. Could we also ask that all clothing is clearly labelled to make it easier to identify and put back on the right pegs – thank you.

Planning ahead for Christmas, we will be starting to practice songs for our Nativity soon. We will keep the show simple and relaxed so that all the children can participate, and we'll give out more information nearer the time detailing times, costumes etc. As in previous years, we will follow our Nativity with a raffle and refreshments before we finish for the Christmas holidays.

For general information, including newsletters, photos etc., please see our website: thesombornespreschool.co.uk, or contact us by e-mail: manager@thesombornespreschool.co.uk.

New arrangements for purchasing uniform – if you require uniform (t-shirts £6 and sweatshirts £12), you will now need to order via our website. From the Menu, follow the link to Uniform Shop.

Best Wishes,

Becky, Katie, Diane and Ali.
